The 1999 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible was a time travel car issued by the Ministry of Defense and driven by Austin Powers so he could time travel to 1969 two years after Austin was frozen. Austin would use the car as his new mode of transportation alongside his new partner and CiA agent Felicity Shagwell. Austin would be shown driving the car by himself. The number plate on the back of this car reads SWINGER2.
This is the first of the time travel cars issued to Austin by the MOD. Its successor a 1976 Cadillac Eldorado would be the second.
